Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or Tuface, has officially announced his separation from his wife, actress Annie Macaulay-Idibia. The iconic singer made the revelation in a heartfelt Instagram post on January 27th, 2025, confirming that the couple has been separated for some time and has filed for divorce.
In the post, 2Baba stated, “Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while and have filed for divorce. I would grant a press release soon to say my story—not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life, but because I love my people, and I need them to know my innocence or offence.”
The couple’s relationship began over two decades ago, in 1999, when their friendship blossomed into romance. Annie gained widespread attention after featuring in the music video for 2Baba’s timeless hit, AFRICAN QUEEN, in 2004. The pair tied the knot in 2012 and share two daughters.
Despite their love story being celebrated as one of the most iconic in the Nigerian entertainment industry, their marriage has faced its fair share of challenges. The union has been tested by controversies surrounding 2Baba’s past relationships and other personal struggles, which often played out in the public eye.
News of their separation has sparked mixed reactions across social media. While some fans have expressed heartbreak and disappointment, others have shown support for both parties, acknowledging the complexities of maintaining a high-profile marriage under constant public scrutiny.
2Baba has promised to share further details about the separation in an upcoming press release. Fans and the public remain eager to hear his side of the story.
The announcement marks the end of one of Nigeria’s most celebrated celebrity unions, leaving fans reflecting on the highs and lows of a relationship that spanned more than two decades.
