From the confines of her prison cell, activist Ama Governor has written a powerful letter expressing her solidarity with the ongoing #FreeTheCitizens protest, which continues to gain momentum across Ghana. The protest, driven by social media outcry, is a call from the nation’s youth for the immediate release of Ama Governor and approximately 50 other individuals arrested during a demonstration organized by the Democracy Hub against illegal mining, widely known as Galamsey.




Ama Governor’s letter, which has since gone viral, highlights her commitment to fighting against environmental degradation caused by Galamsey and calls for greater accountability from those in power. In the letter, she also commends the courage of the Ghanaian youth, urging them to remain steadfast in their pursuit of justice and environmental sustainability.
