The announcement, made on December 6th by Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, highlights Starr’s meteoric rise and her unparalleled influence across the continent. Her dominance on the streaming platform reflects the growing impact of female artists in shaping the music industry in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Ayra Starr, who rose to prominence with hits like AWAY, RUSH, and BLOODY SAMARITAN, has continued to captivate audiences with her unique sound, compelling storytelling, and dynamic stage presence. Her success on Spotify underscores her wide-ranging appeal, not just within Africa but globally, as her music transcends borders and resonates with listeners worldwide.
