Ghanaian musician Baka Dabri recently graced the set of 3Music TV’s Morning Bite, delivering a performance that left hosts Jay Foley and Lerny Lomotey, along with the viewers, in awe. Following his captivating performance, Baka sat down for an engaging conversation, delving into his musical journey, current and upcoming projects, and his unique fashion sense.
Baka's fashion style is as distinctive as his music. He explained that his sense of fashion is all about freedom and comfort, emphasizing that his appearance must align with his sound and provide him with the comfort he seeks. "The same way I look for freedom in my outlook and the way I dress, I look for that in my mind as a creator," Baka shared, highlighting his openness to exploration and discovery, both in ideas and sounds.
Hailing from the Northern part of Ghana, Baka spoke about how his culture and upbringing have significantly influenced his art and creative process. He revealed that he was named after his grandfather, who passed away before he was born, a tradition rooted in longstanding superstitious beliefs.
For Baka, music is a spiritual experience. He discussed how his beliefs, faith, and the role of God play a crucial part in his creativity, helping him stay grounded and centered. His unique persona shines through not only in his fashion and music but also in his speech, clearly defining who he is and how it all feeds into his artistic expression.
Baka Dabri’s appearance on Morning Bite was not just a showcase of his musical talent but a window into his creative soul, where culture, faith, and freedom intertwine to create something truly special.
