The NBA is going global for their upcoming Halftime Show at the 2023 All-Star Game. This year, Burna Boy, Tems, and Rema have been chosen by the league to lead the Afrobeats-themed event, which will take place this Sunday night (Feb. 19) in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Following the performance, the NBA will celebrate LeBron James for being the league's all-time leading scorer. The 72nd NBA All-Star Game will take place at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City at 8:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted on TNT. Prior to celebrations, the NBA will host a variety of events, including this Friday's Ruffles Celebrity Game. This year's event will feature performances from Janelle Monae, 21 Savage, Cordae, Ozuna, Kane Brown, Nicky Jam, and more.
Post Malone, together with the trio of Afrobeats stars, will open the show with a medley of hits. The National Anthem will be performed by Jewel, while Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel will lead the player introductions for the freshly named NBA All-Stars. The NBA hired DJ Khaled to perform at the Halftime Show last year, and he pulled out Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Migos, Lil Baby, and Gunna.
The NBA has previously enlisted a number of musicians, including J. Cole, Jack Harlow, Common, and Quavo. In both appearances, the Migos frontman wowed. He was crowned MVP in 2018 after scoring 19 points. The next year, he set a game high with 27 points.
The Celebrity Game will air exclusively on ESPN beginning at 7 p.m. ET. The All-Star game will also be available on the ESPN App, and it will air on TNT on Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET.
