Chef Smith Apologizes For Fake Guinness World Record Certificate

Ebenezer Smith, popularly known as Chef Smith, has issued an apology to Ghanaians after it was revealed that his Guinness World Record (GWR) certificate is fake. During an emotional interview on GHOne TV with Serwaa Amihere, Chef Smith broke down in tears, admitting to lying about his supposed record-breaking achievement.

“I render a very big apology on this big platform and I apologize to the world that I am so sorry and I don’t deserve to live. I was only chasing after a livelihood and now this embarrassment has come upon me,” Chef Smith said, visibly distraught, as he went down on his knees. Chef Smith's apology came after a press conference on July 2, 2024, at La Palm Beach Hotel, where he announced his claim of achieving the longest individual cooking marathon. However, GWR later stated that they have no record of any such application or attempt from Chef Smith.

Despite the public backlash and accusations of deceit, Chef Smith's manager, Benny, defended the chef, insisting that they received a confirmation email from GWR and maintaining that the certificate was not fake. This controversy has sparked widespread discussions on social media, with many expressing disappointment and others showing sympathy for Chef Smith’s plight.
