Court Grants Injunction Against Trump Campaign's Use of Isaac Hayes' Classic Hit
Donald Trump
A federal judge has ruled in favor of the estate of legendary musician Isaac Hayes, issuing a temporary injunction that prohibits Donald Trump and his campaign from using Hayes' iconic song HOLD ON, I’M COMINGwithout proper licensing.

The decision, made by Judge Thomas Thrash Jr. in Atlanta, GA on September 3, comes after the Hayes estate pursued an emergency injunction following Trump's unauthorized use of the song at campaign events. Despite allegations that Trump had not obtained the necessary permissions, the campaign continued to play the song, prompting the estate's legal action.

While the injunction effectively terminates further use of the song without a license, the court denied the estate's motion to remove previous uses of the song. Isaac Hayes III, son of the late musician, hailed the decision as a victory, stating, "Donald Trump has been barred from ever playing the music of Isaac Hayes again."

This ruling sets a precedent for artists' rights and highlights the importance of obtaining proper permissions for music use in political campaigns. The Hayes estate's swift action ensures that Isaac Hayes' legacy and intellectual property are protected from unauthorized use.
