With roles in The Harder They Fall, Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Creed III, Actor Jonathan Majors has become one of the newest internet sensations. However, the latest news on the actor comes after his arrest on charges of assault and harassment of his girlfriend.
According to reports by the NYPD, the 30-year-old woman endured minor injuries and was taken to the hospital following the altercation which happened during a domestic dispute in a New York City apartment and led to the arrest of the actor on Saturday.
Released on bail shortly after his arrest, the actor has denied any wrongdoing while his lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, reaffirmed his innocence. Variety reports according to his lawyer claim that “Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently.”
The evidence reportedly includes video footage from the incident in addition to eyewitness' testimony from multiple persons and two written statements from the alleged victim recanting earlier allegations.
Despite these claims, social media has been
flooding with accusations of Majors as an abuser and sociopath with anonymous
tweets resurfacing about how vicious a human being the actor is.
This unfortunately poses a problem for the actor,
his employers, endorsements and franchises as a central character, especially
for anticipated MCU projects which seem to be in potential jeopardy in light of
the current situation.
The US Army has already pulled down two
commercials that feature the actor amidst plans of running other campaign ads.
The Army has also released a statement acknowledging their awareness of the
situation at hand and expressing their decision to pull the collaborative ad
until the investigation into the allegations is complete.
