Olivetheboy’s family background and unwavering support have been fundamental in shaping his journey as an artiste. Coming from a devout Christian family, he initially encountered the conventional expectations that often accompany a religious household.
However, he shared in a recent 3Music TV interview how his family broke stereotypes by embracing his passion for music. His mother, whom he describes as “very supportive,” played a significant role in encouraging him to pursue his dreams. Notably, she showed openness not only to his early comedic endeavors but also to his eventual transition into Hip-hop—a genre that can sometimes clash with traditional Christian values. Her support allowed him to explore his creative identity without hesitation.
A key influence in his early development was his uncle, who had a studio at home. This unique environment exposed Olivetheboy to the world of gospel music and production from an early age, fostering his curiosity and nurturing his budding talent. Watching gospel artists work in his uncle's studio provided him with a solid musical foundation that would later inform his stylistic versatility.
Even as he grew and began experimenting with diverse genres, including Hip-hop and Afrobeat, his family’s acceptance and encouragement were ever-present, inspiring him to refine his craft and build on his musical roots.
This family bond and his faith have become cornerstones of Olivetheboy’s grounded approach to fame. Now, as he collaborates with major artists and ventures into broader creative arenas, he continues to draw inspiration from the values instilled by his family. They remind him of his beginnings and encourage him to stay connected to his authentic self, making faith and family integral parts of both his success and unique artistic voice. His journey exemplifies how embracing both personal beliefs and artistic passion can lead to a fulfilling and impactful career.
