The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has launched a crackdown on unapproved products on the Ghanaian market, confiscating multiple unregistered and unapproved items from various outlets.
In a bid to ensure public health safety, the FDA has seized a large quantity of unlicensed and fake drugs from several shops and pharmacies in the West Mamprusi Municipality. The move is part of a wider effort to rid the market of substandard and counterfeit products.
The FDA has also issued a warning to importers and distributors, cautioning against the importation of unregistered products. The authority has implemented measures to strengthen quality control and enforcement, including regular market surveillance and inspections.
Furthermore, the FDA has recalled certain antimalarial and analgesic products due to quality control issues. The recalled products have been found to fall short of safety and efficacy standards.
The FDA's crackdown is a significant step towards protecting public health and safety in Ghana. The authority has urged consumers to be vigilant and report any suspicious products to the authorities.
The move is also expected to boost confidence in the pharmaceutical industry and ensure that only safe and effective products are available on the market.
