Promoter, Frank K. Owusu, has emphasized that investing in church members with singing
talent will benefit pastors when done properly.
In
an interview on 3Music TV’s Culture Daily, he mentioned that as the songs
spread across, so will the name of the ministry.
Quoting him, “No Pastor will lose if they ever decide to invest their resources into projecting an artiste or a worship leader in the church that they see light in. If they do it well. You are going to win on two fronts. The gospel artiste amplifies what the pastor does on the pulpit. If you do that, you are not only expanding the church but your ministry because where music will go, a sermon will not get there. Ministry wise you will win.”
OB
Nartey, also a Gospel Minister added that the church should view the industry
as a separate body from the church. He believes musicians will strive better in
the industry when managed by professionals, thus, the church should channel
resources into providing music infrastructure.
“We
need people who understand the business. So when we have the artiste coming out
of these places, those with the know-how will manage them in the industry. Don’t
forget the church can’t play the industry. They can help by putting up infrastructures
like studios, and investing in the craft but they cannot manage. And that’s
where we have to draw the lines.”
Over
the years, some gospel musicians have bemoaned their churches’ unwillingness to
extend support since the churches are only concerned with the gospel and
nothing else commercial. However, in recent times, stakeholders have been
calling on churches to fund the crafts of their members.
