James Earl Jones, the iconic actor whose deep, resonant voice brought to life some of the most memorable characters in film and theater history, has passed away. He was 92. 

Jones, best known as the voice of Darth Vader in the STAR WARS saga, had a career spanning over seven decades. He was celebrated for his commanding presence on stage and screen, his versatility as a performer, and his distinctive voice, which became one of the most recognizable in entertainment.

Born in 1931 in Arkabutla, Mississippi, Jones overcame a severe childhood stutter to become one of America's greatest actors. He made his Broadway debut in 1957 and won two Tony Awards for his performances in THE GREAT WHITE HOPE (1969) and FENCES(1987). He also earned an honorary Academy Award in 2011 for his lifetime of work in film.

Jones's roles extended beyond his memorable turn as Darth Vader. He voiced Mufasa in Disney's THE LION KING (1994) and appeared in numerous acclaimed films, including COMING TO AMERICA, FIELD OF DREAMS and THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER. He also had a prolific career in television, earning multiple Emmy Awards for his work.

Throughout his life, Jones received numerous accolades, including a Kennedy Center Honor, a National Medal of Arts, and a Grammy Award. He was celebrated not only for his talents but also for his kindness, generosity, and dedication to the craft of acting.

James Earl Jones leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations of actors and audiences. His powerful voice, iconic performances, and trailblazing career have left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment.
