Kwame Mickey Announces Resolution With Team Eternity On DEFE DEFE
Kwame Mickey X Team Eternity
Ghanaian music producer Kwame Mickey has announced that the dispute with Team Eternity Ghana over the use of DEFE DEFE lyrics in their new song has been resolved. Through his OFM company, Kwame Mickey released a statement confirming that the matter concerning Team Eternity Ghana's use of a part of the song DEFE DEFE in their new track of the same title has been amicably settled.

The statement further explains that both parties have entered into a License Agreement, granting Team Eternity Ghana the non-exclusive right to use the lyrics derived from the original song in their new one. A few weeks ago, Kwame Mickey, the executive producer of Hallelujah Voices’ DEFE DEFE, accused Team Eternity Ghana of copyright infringement for using the defe defe line in their latest hit. He expressed his frustration online, questioning the difference between the two songs and calling for the issue to be addressed.

Mickey also took action by requesting YouTube to disable the visibility of Team Eternity's Defe Defe until the copyright matter was resolved. This sparked debates on social media, with some arguing that Defe Defe is a common expression and cannot be exclusively claimed by Hallelujah Voices, while others noted similarities in the lyrics.

In Twi, DEFE DEFE is an adverb describing the severity of an unpleasant situation, with synonyms like pasa pasa and basa basa. Despite differences in rhythmic patterns and melodic phrases, Kwame Mickey highlighted the similarities in lyrical content between the two songs. The original DEFE DEFE song by Hallelujah Voices was written by Osuani Afrifa and produced by Kwame Mickey for Kaakyire Music Productions, released in 2004.
