The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Samuel Abu Jinapor, has categorically denied allegations of state capture in the management of Ghana's lands, emphasizing that the country's lands are safe and secure.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the Minister described the allegations as baseless and unfounded, stating that the government has implemented robust measures to protect the rights of landowners and ensure transparent land administration.
We have taken concrete steps to address issues of land grabbing, encroachment, and disputes, and we are confident that our lands are secure, he said.
The Minister highlighted several initiatives aimed at improving land governance, including the ongoing digitization of land records, the establishment of a Land Information System, and the strengthening of traditional authorities' roles in land management.
The state capture allegations had sparked concerns among Ghanaians, but the Minister's reassurance has been welcomed by stakeholders, including traditional leaders, civil society organizations, and land experts.
The government has urged citizens to report any suspicious activities or concerns related to land ownership to the appropriate authorities, ensuring that Ghana's lands remain a valuable asset for present and future generations.
