McRay kicked off the conversation by discussing his latest single titled KICKIN, featuring South African artiste Young Eezy. The song, inspired by McRay's admiration for the South African music sound, came to fruition when Young Eezy reached out to him via social media. According to McRay, this collaboration presented a golden opportunity which he gladly seized. KICKIN was chosen as a standout track for his EP DIAMOND FROM THE PRESSURE due to its international appeal and high-quality production.
Reflecting on Young Eezy's contribution to the song, McRay praised the South African artiste's performance, stating that he "really bodied it" with his verse. The underlying message of KICKIN revolves around resilience and determination, encouraging listeners to stay focused and overcome obstacles in their path.
Discussing the music video for KICKIN, McRay revealed an innovative approach. While Young Eezy shot his part in South Africa, McRay filmed his scenes in Ghana. The final video seamlessly blends these two locations, creating a visually compelling narrative that enhances the song's message. The music video is now available on YouTube, showcasing the synergy between the two artistes across continents.
Looking ahead, McRay expressed his desire to collaborate further with South African musicians, particularly mentioning his interest in working with Nasty C. He also highlighted the emergence of promising talents in the Ghanaian music scene, including Kojo Trip, Dikoo, BPM Boss, and Blac Kingship, whom he believes are set to make significant strides in the industry.
McRay and his team are actively promoting KICKIN and the EP DIAMOND FROM THE PRESSURE, both locally and internationally. Despite acknowledging the challenges faced by upcoming artistes in gaining recognition, McRay remains steadfast in his dedication to producing impactful music.
