Netflix Unveils Trailer for Fear Street: Prom Queen, Premiering May 23

Netflix has released the official trailer for Fear Street: Prom Queen, the latest installment in its acclaimed horror anthology series. Set to premiere on May 23rd, 2025, the film is a direct adaptation of R.L. Stine’s 1992 novel The Prom Queen, marking the first time the streaming giant has based a Fear Street movie on a specific book from the series.

Directed and co-written by Matt Palmer, Prom Queen transports viewers back to 1988 at Shadyside High, where prom season takes a deadly turn. The story follows outsider Lori Granger, portrayed by India Fowler, who enters the prom queen race only to find her competitors mysteriously disappearing. The trailer, set to Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven Is a Place on Earth,” teases a blend of nostalgic ’80s vibes with classic slasher thrills.  

The ensemble cast includes Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Chris Klein, Lili Taylor, and Katherine Waterston. Palmer describes the film as a mix of “classic ’80s slasher” elements with deeper explorations into high school and family dynamics that remain relevant today.   

Fear Street: Prom Queen is produced by Chernin Entertainment and continues Netflix’s expansion of the Fear Street universe, following the original trilogy released in 2021. Fans can stream the film exclusively on Netflix starting May 23.
