Christian Atsu, a forward for the Black Stars and player for Turkish team Hatayspor, is among those still trapped in the aftermath of Turkey's devastating earthquake.
Reports coming from Turkey also suggest that Hatayspor's Director, Taner Savut, has also been trapped beneath the rubble as well.
Social media has erupted with concern for the footballer, with Twitter users using the hashtags #prayforAtsu and 'Pray for Christian Atsu' to spread the word and call for prayers.
Former Black Star player Asamoah Gyan also took to Twitter to express his worries, posting a photo of Atsu with the caption "OH GOD. Please."
The Ghana Football Association has also shown their support, taking to Twitter to pray for Atsu and ensuring the safety of Ghanaian footballers in Turkey.
The earthquake, which struck southeast Turkey near the Syrian border in the early hours of Monday, February 6, has claimed over 1,000 lives and left countless others trapped. A second earthquake later occurred in the Elbistan region of the Kahramanmaras province.
As fans and the football community come together to pray for Atsu, it's a reminder of the power of the sport to bring people together in times of tragedy.
