The first teaser for the highly anticipated SPIDER-NOIR series, starring Nicolas Cage, has been unveiled at Amazon’s Upfront 2025 presentation, igniting excitement among Marvel fans. Set to premiere in summer 2026 on MGM+ and Prime Video, the live-action series brings the gritty, 1930s New York-based Spider-Man Noir to life, with Cage reprising his role from the animated SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE.

The teaser offers a glimpse of Cage as an aging, down-on-his-luck private investigator grappling with his past as the city’s only superhero, dressed in the character’s iconic fedora, trench coat, and black webbed mask. The series promises a dark, stylish take on the Marvel Noir universe, with an aesthetic that blends comic book accuracy with film noir sensibilities, available in both black-and-white and color formats.

The teaser showcases the moody, atmospheric tone of SPIDER-NOIR, emphasizing its unique place in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU). Directed by Harry Bradbeer for the first two episodes, and developed by co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, the series is backed by Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. The cast includes standout performers like Lamorne Morris as journalist Robbie Robertson, Brendan Gleeson as a philosophical mob boss, and supporting actors such as Li Jun Li, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Lukas Haas.

Filmed in Los Angeles from August 2024 to March 2025, the eight-episode series uses black-and-white cinematography to enhance its authentic 1930s vibe, with set photos and the teaser confirming a comics-accurate costume and a narrative steeped in mystery and retro action

Fans are buzzing over Cage’s return to the Marvel fold, marking his first regular television role and a live-action superhero performance since GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGENCE. The teaser hints at a complex character arc for Cage’s SPIDER-NOIR, blending pathos with hardboiled detective grit, as he navigates a corrupt, fog-laden New York. Social media reactions highlight the anticipation, with posts praising the comic-accurate costume and noir aesthetic, though some debate whether the series should commit solely to black-and-white for a bolder artistic choice.

With its stellar cast, seasoned creative team, and a premise that diverges from traditional Spider-Man tales, SPIDER-NOIR is poised to be a standout addition to the superhero genre, offering a fresh spin on a beloved character when it debuts in 2026.
