In a tweet by the official Louis Vuitton handle, confirming earlier media speculation about the new hire, Pharrell Williams was welcomed. Pharrell is taking over the position filled by former star designer Virgil Abloh until he lost the battle to cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare cancer in 2021. 

It was revealed by the brand that Williams' first collection for the label will be outdoored in June during Men's Fashion Week in Paris.

The 49-year-old who shot to fame as a music producer and lead vocalist of N.E.R.D has been hailed as one of the most influential and successful producers of the 21st century with a long-spanning successful career as a solo singer-songwriter with hits including HAPPY which he wrote for the animated movie DESPICABLE ME 2.

He is widely known for his unique style and extensive experience in the fashion industry, playing a lead role in the rise of streetwear and co-founding the label Billionaire Boys Club with Japanese designer Nigo in 2003 as well as his collaborations with Adidas, Moncler and Chanel.

He is considered a significant replacement for Louis Vuitton and a surety of the brand’s continued link to pop culture and music.
