Real Housewives of Potomac Star Karen Huger Sentenced to One Year in Prison for DUI Crash

Karen Huger, known for her role on The Real Housewives of Potomac, has been sentenced to two years in prison, with one year suspended, following a DUI crash in March 2024. This decision mandates that Huger serve one year behind bars, followed by five years of probation.  

The incident occurred in Potomac, Maryland, where Huger crashed her Maserati into a pole. Body camera footage from the scene showed her stumbling over her words and reportedly using profanity toward first responders. An EMT testified that Huger refused medical treatment, a breathalyzer, and field sobriety tests at the time.  

In December 2024, a jury found Huger guilty on five of six charges, including driving under the influence, negligent driving, failure to control speed, and failure to notify authorities of an address change. She was acquitted of reckless driving.  

Prior to sentencing, Judge Terrence McGann highlighted Huger’s history of four driving violations since 2006. Prosecutors, citing her previous offenses, initially sought a two-year sentence. Huger has 30 days to appeal the decision.  

Following her arrest, Huger admitted to being intoxicated and entered a rehabilitation program in January 2025. Despite these efforts, her future with the Bravo network remains uncertain. Huger has been a prominent figure on “The Real Housewives of Potomac” since its debut in 2016.
