Nigerian global superstar Rema has received a prestigious Certificate of Recognition from the Mayor of Boston, in a moment that celebrates his outstanding contributions to music and culture worldwide.
The city of Boston, known for its rich history and vibrant cultural scene, acknowledged Rema’s influence and impact through this official commendation, presented by the Mayor’s office. The award recognizes the artist not only for his chart-topping hits but also for representing African music on the world stage and inspiring young creatives around the globe.
Rema, best known for international hits like Calm Down and Holiday, has been instrumental in shaping the new wave of Afrobeats. His sound, which fuses traditional African rhythms with global pop and trap influences, has earned him a massive global following and multiple awards.
The certificate, bearing the city’s seal and signed by the mayor, highlights Rema’s “artistic excellence, cultural contribution, and role in bridging communities through music.”
This honour places Rema among the select few African artists to receive formal recognition from a major U.S. city—an acknowledgment of Afrobeats’ expanding global footprint and Rema’s role at the forefront of the movement.
