The global phenomenon SQUID GAME is set to conclude with its third and final season, premiering on Netflix on June 27, 2025, as announced by Netflix on May 29, 2025. The South Korean survival drama, created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, has captivated audiences worldwide since its 2021 debut, and cast members, including Lee Jung-jae and Park Hae-soo, have praised the season’s script as perfectly written.

The actors, speaking at a Seoul press event, admitted to feeling as nervous as fans about the series’ climactic end, fueling anticipation for how Gi-hun’s journey will resolve. Fans are eagerly awaiting the finale of this cultural juggernaut that redefined global streaming success with its intense narrative and striking visuals.

Season three of SQUID GAME promises to escalate the high-stakes drama, following Gi-hun’s vow in season two to dismantle the deadly game’s organization. While plot details remain scarce, Netflix’s teaser trailer, released on May 30, 2025, showcases intense new challenges and returning characters, including the enigmatic Front Man.

The series, which won six Emmys for its first season, including Outstanding Drama, continues to blend visceral action with sharp social commentary on capitalism and desperation. The second season, released December 2024, set viewership records with 68 million views in its first week, setting a high bar for the finale.

Fans are buzzing with speculation about the ending, though some express concerns about matching the first season’s impact. Hwang Dong-hyuk, who directs and writes the season, has teased a heart-wrenching conclusion, ensuring SQUID GAME remains a cultural touchstone.

The series’ global influence, from inspiring real-world games to fashion trends, underscores its legacy. With no spin-offs confirmed beyond the reality show SQUID GAME: THE CHALLENGE, the final season is poised to cement the show’s place in television history.
