The MTV Video Music Awards (VMA's) took place last night, and it was a night to remember. The event was filled with electrifying performances, unexpected wins, and memorable moments.

Taylor Swift won seven VMAs this year, bringing an all-time total of thirty, tying her with Beyonce for most VMA wins of all time, taking home the award for her song ALL TOO WELL. This win reinforced her position as one of the most successful artistes in VMA history.

Another highlight of the night was Eminem’s performance, which featured him taking the audience back to the Slim Shady Era, where he had Slim Shady lookalikes and performed his songs, HOUDINI and SOMEBODY SAVE ME off his DEATH OF SLIM SHADY album.

American singer, songwriter and tv personality, Katy Perry received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, a prestigious honor that recognizes outstanding contributions to music and film.

South African singer and songwriter, Tyla’s VMAs was a triumphant moment, as she took home her first VMA’s award for Best Afrobeats Music Video. This milestone marked a significant breakthrough in Tyla's career, cementing her position as a trailblazer in the music industry. As the first South African artiste to win in this category, Tyla's achievement paved the way for future generations of African artistes.

Sabrina Carpenter also took the stage with confidence and charisma, delivering a captivating performance that showcased her vocal range and stage presence, where she performed her songs, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, TASTE and ESPRESSO off her SHORT N’ SWEET album. She also took home the award for Song of the Year for her song ESPRESSO and her acceptance speech was met with cheers and applause.

Pop artiste, Britney Spears may have sat out the VMAs this year, but her pop legacy shone bright, courtesy of the likes of Lisa, Sabrina Carpenter and Megan Thee Stallion. Not one, not two, not three, but as many as four leading names in pop and rap paid direct, unmissable tributes to the princess of pop.

The VMAs were a celebration of music, creativity, and self-expression. The event showcased the talents of some of the biggest names in the industry and left viewers eagerly anticipating next year's ceremony.
