Ghanaian artiste Worlasi is gearing up to drop his highly anticipated single, SAFIA, on August 9, followed by a special live debut at his art exhibition, EKA (A’line to your Lineage), on August 17 at Barn Door Beergarden in Accra. Worlasi, celebrated for his remarkable versatility as a rapper, singer, music producer, and songwriter, is set to enthrall his audience with SAFIA, a track that masterfully blends African rhythms with introspective lyrics. Fans are encouraged to presave and stream SAFIA on all major platforms to experience this much-awaited release.
Hailing from Ghana’s Volta region, Worlasi has carved out a unique space in the music industry by merging soul and hip-hop with an authentic African flair. His music, performed in a mix of English, Ewe, Fante, Ga, and Pidgin, reflects his rich cultural and linguistic heritage. SAFIA is the lead single from his upcoming album VOICES IN MY HEAD, which centers on celebrating the Ewe language. Starting August 9, listeners can presave and stream SAFIA on their preferred music platforms.
"For years, I’ve wanted to bring more of my language, Ewe, into my music," Worlasi shares. "This year, I made it a goal to create an album that's predominantly Ewe, and I’m proud of this journey. It’s been a humbling experience, realizing how much there is to learn, but also how much I already know to start with. The more I discover about what I don’t know, the more eager I am to learn."
SAFIA, meaning key in Ewe, weaves a deep narrative of self-discovery and the realization that the solutions we seek are often within our grasp. Worlasi elaborates, "There’s a saying that when one door closes, another opens. The first and most crucial door is the one we pass through at birth—our entry into life through our mother's womb. This gift of life is our first step toward success. Some doors may seem locked, but we’ve always had the key. It’s about finding different perspectives and methods to unlock them, as we often possess everything we need to succeed."
On SAFIA Worlasi tells the story of a person who finds a door marked with their name but struggles to open it. Despite trying everything, the door remains shut until they discover the key in their pocket, symbolizing the hidden resources and answers we carry within ourselves. Worlasi’s music embodies a powerful mix of confidence, humility, knowledge, curiosity, optimism, and realism.
With previous hits like PERFECTION, JEALOUSY, MAWENA, ANIMATE, and HOW MANY TIMES, Worlasi has captivated audiences on stages worldwide, including in Europe. Apart from his musical endeavors, Worlasi is a skilled painter and the founder of the non-profit organization Giving Shade. SAFIA represents a new chapter in his artistic journey, encouraging listeners to embrace their language and culture. "I want to inspire Ewe people everywhere to appreciate and explore their language because the more we delve into it, the more beauty we uncover," he adds.
Join Worlasi in Accra on August 17 at Barn Door Beergarden for the official unveiling of his art exhibition EKA (A’line to your Lineage) and be among the first to witness the live performance of SAFIA.
