Eno Barony has confidently declared that it is only a matter of time before women take over the most important events on the Ghanaian music calendar.
“Ghana Music is male-dominated but you can see that there is a greater representation of women these days. Nowadays more of us are participating at the biggest events and doing quite well. Look at Gyakie, Wendy Shay, Adina; you can see how well we are doing… I have a feeling that women will soon split even with men in the industry. We will rule Ghana music soon.” She affirmed.
Diana Hamilton, Gyakie, and the late Ebony have in recent times chalked massive feats for women in music. Several other women continue to contribute at the highest level to Ghanaian arts and entertainment in what has become something of a purple patch for women in music.
Last year Eno Barony made history at the 4th annual 3Music Awards when she became the first woman to win the Rapper of the Year award or its equivalent here in Africa and only the seventh in the world.
