The Ghanaian film industry, which was once thriving, has struggled to recapture its former glory despite discussions with several players.
Amidst
the difficulties, actress and film producer Yvonne Nelson is confident that she
is doing her part to grow the industry and improve things. The actress
expressed her dissatisfaction on 3Music TV's Culture Daily saying she still has
the desire to work in the profession regardless of the circumstances.
“It’s
obvious the industry is not as vibrant as before and I’m just sick and tired of
talking about the subject. I’m doing my part. For me, it’s a business; of
course, I have the passion. I just cannot see myself not producing anymore. I
believe I’m going to be around for a long time,” she revealed.
Yvonne
Nelson hopes that her colleagues will contribute and take an active role in the
production process. In her opinion, they have given up.
“My
colleagues and I have to invest. We have to invest in the industry. If we don’t
then we don’t expect an outsider to invest. We know it. This is what we do. So
I was expecting to see John Dumelo start directing. I’m always bugging Majeed
to direct. It’s us really. I feel like we’ve easily given up and so things are
the way they are. So we have to sit and do something about it.”
On February 14th, the actor will premier her newest work, 'KOTOKA.'
