The 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA) is set to grace the screens on May 10th to 11th, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the African film industry. The announcement of this year’s dates came during a press conference held in Lagos, Nigeria, jointly presented by MultiChoice and Africa Magic. Femi Odugbemi, a distinguished filmmaker, director, producer, and the pioneering Academy Director of the MultiChoice Talent Factory, has been bestowed the honor of serving as the head judge for this prestigious event.

Dr. Busola Tejumola, the Executive Head of Content and Channels West Africa for MultiChoice, articulated the profound impact of the AMVCA over the past decade, highlighting its role as a beacon of excellence in African storytelling on television. Notably, adjustments have been made to the award categories, with the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress categories now subject to determination by the esteemed jury panel.

Excitement mounts as the final nominees in each category are poised to be unveiled live across all Africa Magic channels on Sunday, March 24th at 8 p.m. Following this eagerly anticipated revelation, the voting link will be activated, inviting audiences to participate in the selection process. The event promises a vibrant celebration of talent and creativity, with the festivities commencing on May 10th with the Young Filmmakers and Content Creators awards in the morning, followed by the Cultural Day and Opening night extravaganza in the evening.

The main awards ceremony would take center stage on Sunday, May 11th in the evening, honoring the best and brightest talents in the African film industry while reaffirming the enduring power of storytelling to captivate hearts and minds across the continent and beyond.
