In a bid to appreciate the contributions of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and his nephew, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, the Abuja Municipal Area Council has announced its intention to name streets after them.
The decision was made known in a statement by the spokesperson for Governor Adeleke, Olawale Rasheed, which was shared on X on Tuesday. According to the statement, the recognition is to acknowledge Governor Adeleke’s outstanding contributions to infrastructural development in Osun State and Davido’s impact in the entertainment industry.
The statement revealed that Governor Adeleke has been nominated for the honour of having a street named after him in Abuja, in recognition of his commitment to laudable infrastructural development in Osun State. The council expressed that Governor Adeleke joins a prestigious list of eminent Nigerian leaders and public servants who have been immortalized through street names in the nation’s capital.
Furthermore, the council also announced that Davido will have a street named after him in Abuja Municipality, in recognition of his significant contributions to the entertainment industry. The statement highlighted Davido’s influence as a role model for Nigerian youths and praised his enormous impact in the entertainment sector.
The Abuja Municipal Area Council has extended the nomination to both Governor Adeleke and Davido, with a request for their formal acceptance of the honour. The statement concluded by stating, “Subject to your acceptance of this nomination, kindly confirm your formal acceptance.”
This gesture by the Abuja Municipal Area Council is a testament to the remarkable achievements of Governor Adeleke and Davido, and serves as a fitting tribute to their dedication and impact in their respective fields.
