BET Awards 2024: Ghanaian Artistes Absent from Nomination List

BET Awards 2024: Ghanaian Artistes Absent from Nomination List
Ghanaian Artiste

The BET Awards 2024 nominations have been announced, and Ghanaian artistes are conspicuously missing from the list.

Despite the growing influence of Ghanaian music on the global stage, no Ghanaian artiste received a nomination in any category. The snub has left many in the Ghanaian music industry disappointed and wondering why their artistes were overlooked.

However, it's worth noting that Black Sherif made history last year by winning the Best International Flow category at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards, a feat that brought pride to Ghana and the African music industry.

Meanwhile, Nigerian artistes dominated the list, with Ayra Starr leading the pack with three nominations. Other Nigerian artistes like Burna Boy, Tems, Asake, and Seyi Vibez also received nods.

The BET Awards 2024, which celebrate black excellence in music, film, and sports, will air live on BET on Sunday, June 30, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Ghanaian music industry players are expressing their disappointment on social media, calling for greater recognition of Ghanaian talent on the international stage.

This development has sparked a conversation about the need for more support and promotion of Ghanaian music globally and the need for Ghanaian artistes to push harder.
