Liverpool's standout forward, Mohamed Salah, is in doubt for the upcoming League Cup final against Chelsea this Sunday, but assistant manager Pep Lijnders is keeping his fingers crossed for Salah's fitness.

Salah, alongside teammate Darwin Nunez, sat out Liverpool's midweek clash with Luton Town after playing in the weekend fixture against Brentford. Lijnders shared with reporters on Friday that the availability of Salah, Nunez, and Dominik Szoboszlai remains uncertain as the team gears up for the final showdown.

The Reds are grappling with several injuries to key players, including Curtis Jones, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Diogo Jota, who are all on the sidelines. Lijnders disclosed that Jones will be sidelined until around the international break, while Alexander-Arnold and Jota are facing a more extended recovery period.

Despite the injury challenges, Lijnders maintains a positive outlook, expressing satisfaction with the opportunity to make a significant impact on the team. He stressed the importance of the squad rallying together and adapting to the hurdles they currently face.

Previewing the final against Chelsea, Lijnders acknowledged the improvements made by the opposition since their last encounter in January. He commended Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino for identifying his optimal starting lineup and highlighted the threat posed by their speed and counter-attacking prowess.

With Salah's participation still up in the air, Liverpool fans are anxiously awaiting updates on his fitness ahead of the eagerly anticipated League Cup final clash.
