Chlöe is switching things up as she advances in her cinematic career, now is her chance to shine. As a member of the dynamic duo Chloe x Halle, the multihyphenate artist warmed the hearts of many and the girls extended their talents as Grown-ish stars. While her sister is preparing to release The Little Mermaid, Chlöe has been dominating the charts as a solo artiste. Ariel is played by Halle Bailey in the live-action adaptation.
Meanwhile, Chlöe has been busy. The singer released a preview of her next comedy film, Praise This on March 6. Quavo, Druski, Tristan Wilds and others also make an appearance in the movie. The plot follows the competitive world of child choirs as they want to be acknowledged as power vocalists who outperform the competition. This first trailer provides insight into Chlöe's character as she takes on the starring role.
Chlöe plays Sam, a woman visiting her family in Los Angeles. She is thrown into church life and because she's a singer, she starts going to practice with her relative's youth choir. She does, however, dispute with the choir director, who does not want Sam to overstep her bounds. The choir takes pleasure in remaining traditional in a world where its peers are becoming more modern. Sam steps in to assist them and everything plays out hilariously.
This isn't Chlöe's only project in the works; she also appears in Donald Glover's upcoming series Swarm. The Atlanta star earlier stated that Swarm was inspired by the BeeHive and other fanatical fanbases for the musicians they respect. Chlöe plays a minor character in the show and those who have seen the final takes have praised her efforts.
Last year, Chlöe spoke with Hot 97 about working with a stellar cast in Praise This. “I’ve had the blessing to be a part of really great projects that I’m passionate about, and have incredible cast (mates) as well,” she said. Watch the Praise This trailer above. The film will be released in theaters on April 7.
