Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., the 14-year-old son of football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, received his maiden call-up to the Portugal Under-15s squad, marking a significant milestone in his budding career. The young striker, currently playing for Al-Nassr’s youth academy in Saudi Arabia, was named in the 22-player squad for the Vlatko Marković International Tournament in Croatia, set for May 13-18, where Portugal will face Japan, Greece, and England. Ronaldo Sr., the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, celebrated the moment on Instagram, sharing the squad list with a heartfelt caption: “Proud of you, son!”

The announcement sparked widespread excitement, with fans hailing the teenager’s potential to shine on the international stage. Cristiano Jr., has already built an impressive resume, having played for the youth academies of Manchester United, Juventus, and Real Madrid, mirroring his father’s illustrious career path. His standout performances at Al-Nassr, including leading their Under-13 team to the Saudi U13 Premier League title in February 2024, have drawn attention, with a viral goal showcasing his aerial prowess reminiscent of Ronaldo Sr.’s trademark headers.

Despite eligibility to represent Spain or the United States, where he was born in San Diego, Cristiano Jr. chose Portugal, a decision likely influenced by his father’s legacy as the nation’s all-time leading scorer with 136 goals. Posts noted this choice, while Ronaldo has emphasized supporting his son without pressure, telling Portuguese outlet Record, “He will follow his path, his career.”

The call-up brings Ronaldo Sr.’s dream of one day playing alongside his son a step closer, though the 40-year-old, still active with Al-Nassr and Portugal, acknowledges the physical and psychological challenges ahead. Cristiano Jr.’s inclusion in the Portugal squad, alongside talents from clubs like Tottenham and Porto, highlights his growing reputation, with reports noting his training two years above his age group at Al-Nassr’s Mahd Academy in 2023.

As he prepares for the Croatia tournament, the football world watches eagerly, with outlets like Times Now praising his potential to carve his own legacy. While the pressure of being Ronaldo’s son looms large, Cristiano Jr.’s first international step signals a promising future, blending talent with the weight of an iconic surname.
