In a recent interview with France 24, Nigerian artiste and songwriter Davido expressed his excitement about the introduction of the Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys. The category aims to recognize and celebrate the immense talent and influence of African music on the global stage.

Davido, also known as David Adeleke, shared his appreciation for the recognition of African music and the opportunities this category will provide for artists across the continent. He emphasized that African music has been dominant for years and believes that this recognition is long overdue.

When asked about the timing of this category, Davido expressed his faith in God's timing, stating, "As I said, God's timing is the best." He acknowledged that while African music should have received recognition earlier, he believes that things take time and is grateful for the opportunity it presents now.

Davido's song UNAVAILABLE has earned a well-deserved nomination in the Best African Music Performance category. Additionally, he received nominations for FEEL in the Best Global Music category and TIMELESS in the Best Global Music Album category, further showcasing his versatility and talent as an artiste.

Not only Davido, but other African artistes such as Burna Boy, Tyla, Asake, Olamide, and Ayra Starr have also been recognized with nominations in their respective categories for the Grammy Awards. This highlights the growing impact and influence of African music on the global music scene.

The introduction of the Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys is a significant milestone, providing a platform for African artists to gain international recognition and potentially win a Grammy. It signifies a step towards greater inclusivity and diversity in the music industry.

As the Grammy Awards approach, fans and music enthusiasts eagerly await the results, showing their support for these talented African artistes. The nominations serve as a testament to the incredible talent and creativity that Africa has to offer.
