A defense attorney in the XXXTentacion murder trial claimed earlier this month that a servicer was challenged by armed guards while attempting to serve Drake with a subpoena.
According to the Miami Herald, Mauricio Padilla, one of the three men accused of murdering XXXTentacion, filed a motion last week requiring Drake to give a deposition later this month. Padilla stated that when process servers attempted to deliver the subpoena outside his California house on Valentine's Day, guards not only slammed the gates in their faces, but also kicked the subpoena down the driveway.
According to Padilla's description of the meeting, members of Drake's security team refused to budge, even as the servicers tried various methods to get the subpoena into Drake's hands.
Drake's involvement in the case is based on XXXTentacion's Instagram Stories post, in which he wrote, “IF ANYONE TRIES TO KILL ME IT WAS @champagnepapi IM snitching RN,” four months before he was killed. X later deleted the post and claimed his account was hacked.
Last Thursday, Judge Michael A. Usan ruled that Drake was not obligated to give a deposition. Padilla's request states that the rapper must be deposed by February 24th or face being held in contempt.
