On April 16, 2023, Frank Ocean made his much-awaited comeback to the stage at Coachella in Indio, California, for the festival's first weekend. His headline set included a mix of his fan-favorite hits and deep cuts from his 2011 mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra to more recent material debuted on his Apple Music radio show Blonded Radio. During his performance, he hinted at a new album in the works but clarified that it was not coming out anytime soon.
Aside his music, Frank also took the time to remember his late brother, who passed away in a car accident in 2020, sharing fond memories of attending the festival with him. The crowd responded with overwhelming support and love.
Halfway through his set, the music took a turn as DJ Crystalmess took over the turntables, turning Frank's set into a "rave mix" with pulsating EDM remixes of his popular songs like Solo, Chanel, and Provider. The stage also featured New Orleans bounce artiste Ha Sizzle dancing and twerking near the stage, which was broadcast on the giant onstage screen.
While there were no surprise releases of new music, Frank Ocean's Coachella comeback was a success, bringing together fans old and new to enjoy his unique sound and style.
