The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the reinstatement of Otto Addo as the coach of the Black Stars, marking the end of Chris Hughton's tenure following the team's underwhelming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign in Ivory Coast earlier this year.
Addo's reappointment comes in the wake of a thorough evaluation by the five-member Black Stars Head Coach search committee, who recommended his return to the helm. In a move indicative of their confidence in his leadership, the GFA has extended an initial 34-month contract to Addo, with provisions for a possible extension of two more years.
Facilitating his transition, Borussia Dortmund has graciously agreed to release Addo from his duties during the March international window, allowing him to fully assume his responsibilities with the Black Stars by May of this year. This transition marks a significant shift for Addo, who has been serving as a talent coach at the esteemed Bundesliga club.
Acknowledging his contributions, Borussia Dortmund has confirmed Addo's departure from his current role, set to take effect in the upcoming summer months. Furthermore, they have confirmed his release for the impending international break, affirming their commitment to facilitating his smooth transition back to Ghana after his coaching commitments with the national team.
