In a conversation with CNN Sport on Wednesday, Nana Sechere, agent of Ghanaian football star and Turkish side Hatayspor player Christian Atsu confirmed that the player has still not been found amidst earlier rumors and reports of his rescue.
According to him, the search for the Atsu is still ongoing with efforts being made in conjunction with the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency in Turkey to circulate photos of the player in all local and national hospitals to assist with the efforts.
Sechere who is in the Hatay province with the winger’s family has revealed that things have been incredibly slow in the search resulting in delayed rescue and further loss of lives owing to the lack of resources available to ground workers.
He pleaded for the provision of more resources to hasten the process and implored the President of the club and the mayor of the city to assist in fast tracking the search efforts.
Speaking on the matter amidst calls for assistance from the Ghanaian government to locate the player, the Ghanaian embassy in Turkey headed by Francisca Ashietey-Odunton disclosed to the CNN that no further information on the whereabouts of the player had been attained.
Fans around the world and the entire Ghanaian community continues to be worried about the dire situation and have sent their thoughts and prayers to the player and his family.
Several calls have also been made for the Government of Ghana to make a move to ensure the player’s rescue and return.
