The Minority in Parliament has announced its intention to commence impeachment proceedings against President Akufo-Addo due to his refusal to endorse the anti-gay bill. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader, criticized the recent directive from the Secretary to the President instructing the clerk of Parliament not to send the anti-LGBTQ bill to the Jubilee House, deeming it unnecessary and unacceptable.

Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, March 21, Ato Forson emphasized the Minority's commitment to upholding the country's constitution and resisting any infringements. He expressed solidarity with the Speaker of Parliament and warned the President and his administration that the Minority would not tolerate deviations from democratic principles.
Ato Forson hinted at the possibility of initiating impeachment proceedings against the President for what he perceives as a breach of the constitution.
