Idris Elba Pays Courtesy Visit To Flagstaff House

British actor Idris Elba on February 3 2023, paid a courtesy call on the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo at the Flagstaff House.

While on his visit, the actor disclosed his intentions to build film studios across Africa and addressed the need for a plan for such facilities at the center of African filmmaking to boost the industry. He stressed the need for backing policies, laying the groundwork for such initiatives taking into consideration the numerous benefits it would bring both to the country and the continent as a whole.

In contributing his quota to making this initiative a reality, propelling Ghana to the forefront and signalling to the rest of the world its readiness for the international market, the actor opened up about his personal project and his intention to direct it here in Ghana.

Having identified the lack of facilities which mar the quality of movies from the country, he added that the initiative has been in the pipeline for the past four years while he and his team put in the right structures to ensure as part of the program that a state-of-the-art facility is set up in the country.
