The James Barnor 95 Festival is set to celebrate the life and work of the legendary Ghanaian-British photographer, James Barnor, as he approaches his 95th birthday. The festival, running from May 29th to June 29th 2024, promises to be an extravaganza of art, culture, and creativity.

The festival will feature a retrospective display of Barnor's work at the Nubuke Foundation in Accra and the Nuku Studio in Tamale, showcasing his iconic photographs that have captured the essence of Ghanaian culture and identity. Additionally, an exhibition titled BARNOR ON THE ROAD will be held at the Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art in Tamale, highlighting his travels and experiences.

The festival will also include a panel discussion with James Barnor at the Institute Museum of Ghana, music and dance performances, documentaries screenings, and free community archiving and photojournalism workshops. To culminate the celebrations, an anthology of James Barnor's work will be published on June 29th, his 95th birthday.

The James Barnor 95 Festival is a testament to the enduring legacy of James Barnor, who has inspired generations of photographers and artists. The festival promises to be a fitting recognition and appreciation of his contributions to the world of photography and Ghanaian culture.
