Jay-Z Sues Rape Accuser and Lawyer Over False Accusations

Jay-Z has initiated a lawsuit against a woman, referred to as Jane Doe, and her attorney, Tony Buzbee, alleging they conspired to falsely accuse him of rape, resulting in significant reputational and financial harm.  

In December 2024, Jane Doe filed a civil lawsuit accusing Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping her at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party in 2000, when she was 13 years old. Jay-Z vehemently denied these allegations, labeling them as a blackmail attempt.  

Jay-Z’s recent lawsuit, filed in an Alabama court, asserts that Jane Doe admitted to fabricating the story and that Buzbee encouraged her to pursue the false claims. The lawsuit includes charges of malicious prosecution, abuse of process, civil conspiracy, and defamation. Jay-Z alleges that these false accusations led to losses exceeding $20 million.  

Attorney Tony Buzbee has refuted these allegations, stating that the new lawsuit lacks legal merit and that his client maintains her original claims.  

This legal action adds to the ongoing disputes between Jay-Z and Buzbee, including a defamation case that a Los Angeles judge recently ruled could proceed to trial.
