Jay-Z is often in the news for his achievements, businesses, net worth and most importantly his status as a ‘goat’ rapper and artiste. In the past week he has been in the news following his emergence as the last billionaire rapper standing on the Forbes’ billionaire list since the falloff of his former mentee Kanye West.
This week, however, his 6th studio album The Blueprint which has been brought up in numerous conversations as his greatest body of work and one of the greatest Hip hop albums of all time has just received a new platinum plaque making it triple platinum certified.
More than twenty years since the last Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) certification of The Blueprint as double platinum, it has gone on to earn its third certification giving it a triple platinum status.
The album debuted at no. 1 with sales of 427,000 units in its first week of release in 2001, achieving platinum status a month later and double platinum status the following year.
