Nigerian musician Rema's chart-topping hit, CALM DOWN has exited the billboard hot 100 after spending a record-breaking 57 weeks on the chart.
The track, which features American pop star Selena Gomez, became the longest-charting and most successful African song of all time surpassing the previous record held by fellow Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid's ESSENCE which spent 35 weeks on the chart. CALM DOWN made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 in September of the previous year, seven months after its release, captivating music enthusiasts worldwide.

Fans of both Rema and Selena have celebrated the song's historic achievement following the news of its exit from the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Beaking more than a dozen records, it became the most streamed Afrobeats song on Spotify and the first African artiste-led song to hit one billion streams on the music platform.
In a post by Spotify on X which read, "We can't Calm Down, Rema has entered the Billions Club with the first African artiste-led track to hit a billion streams on Spotify! Congratulations to Rema and Selena Gomez," the global streaming platform took the opportunity to congratulate the pair when the song set the record.
Calm Down is also the first song to spend one year on the Billboard Afrobeats chart and its YouTube video, with 673 million views, is the most watched music video by a Nigerian artiste.
