Today, Wednesday February 1, 2023, English Premier League side Everton FC have welcomed Ghanaian club Ridge City FC Women with an announcement to mark the teams’ new partnership.
Only four years since its formation, the Accra-based Ghanaian club has become the first African club to join the EIAAP; the Everton International Academy Affiliate Program – an initiative aimed towards the expansion of knowledge and expertise of Everton’s player development processes to affiliated clubs across the globe.

According to their official website, Everton as part of this initiative plans to assist with the expansion of the profile of Ridge City FC with key focus on the facilitation and development of the women’s game and as an offering of additional pathways for players.
In addition to this partnership, the clubs are expected to collaborate on player and coach development, coach education and overall, helping the Ghanaian side to establish itself as a foundation club for women sports in Ghana.

Speaking on the partnership, CEO of Ridge City FC, Cleopatra Nsiah Nkansah expressed her excitement, citing how the club has been seeking out similar opportunity and how important it is for the sports and the women involved. She reiterated the significance of the partnership and its role in the development not only of stakeholders but also of individual career paths which is now beyond likelihood.
The
program which was launched in 2020 seeks to explore opportunities for growth
through value sharing and coaching methods amongst others. The program promises
to furnish Ridge City with numerous resources and perks including full access
to the Everton Academy Curriculum and weekly support from dedicated Everton
Academy coaches amongst others.
