In a surprising revelation, rap icon T-Pain took to TikTok to share a hidden side of his musical talent—country songwriting. The Grammy-winning artiste disclosed his appreciation for country music and how it has influenced his own work. However, T-Pain admitted to facing racism in the country music industry, leading him to refrain from taking credit for the songs he wrote in the genre.

In the candid TikTok video, T-Pain expressed his belief that great music transcends genres, emphasizing that good music is good music, regardless of its category. Despite drawing inspiration from country and gospel music for his harmonies, the rapper highlighted the societal pressure that discourages many from exploring diverse musical genres.

The rapper briefly touched upon his experience collaborating with figures in the country music industry, revealing that he has penned numerous country songs but chose not to claim credit due to the racism he encountered. In a humorous twist, he mentioned preferring to take the paycheck without dealing with the aftermath of racism.

While T-Pain didn't disclose specific collaborations or whether he used pseudonyms for his country works, the caption of his TikTok video emphasized the importance of embracing different music genres.

Known for his chart-topping albums and collaborations with A-list artists, T-Pain has also contributed as a co-writer for major names in the industry, including Ciara, Flo Rida, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Snoop Dogg.

In a previous interview with iHeartRadio's The Breakfast Club, T-Pain hinted at his secret role as a country music songwriter, detailing how he lived in Nashville for two years, quietly crafting songs for artists who preferred to keep their collaborations discreet.

Despite the challenges, T-Pain's unwavering passion for music drives him to explore diverse genres, from hip-hop to country, showcasing his versatility in the ever-evolving music landscape.
