On the evening of Monday, February 4, 2024, a tragic fire engulfed the home of Kojo Antwi, the revered icon of Ghanaian Highlife music. Situated in Hong Kong near Kwashieman within the Ablekuma North Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, the fire ignited in a corridor adjacent to the kitchen, quickly spreading and consuming the entirety of his property.
Despite the valiant efforts of firefighters, as depicted in a video circulated on Instagram by blogger Nkonkonsa, the blaze raged on, resulting in significant losses. Among the casualties were Kojo Antwi's studio, along with numerous other possessions, collectively amounting to thousands of Ghana cedis. While the exact cause of the fire remains elusive, its impact on the beloved musician and his community is profound and deeply saddening.
