On a momentous Monday, February 19, 2024, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia inaugurated the groundbreaking Tap and Go Transport Service at the Metro Mass Limited Head Office in Accra. This landmark event heralds the introduction of the first-ever intra and inter-city public transport service on an innovative digital platform.

The Tap and Go Transport Service revolutionizes the commuting experience by offering a comprehensive digital platform that includes a prepaid digital card for seamless fare payments. Commuters now have the convenience of paying for transport fares by simply tapping their prepaid card on fixed machines installed on buses or trains. For those who prefer a mobile solution, the service also provides a virtual card accessible through the Tap and Go app.

Dr. Bawumia, during the launch, underscored the significance of initiatives like Tap and Go in addressing systemic challenges within the public transport sector. The digital platform aims to boost operational efficiency and combat corruption within the industry.

"This launch of the Tap n’ Go Transport service for Metro Mass Inter-City Services represents our latest digital advancement in the transport sector," declared Dr. Bawumia.
