British rapper Novelist and Ghanaian rap collective Savage 4 are redefining global hip-hop with a sound they call G.H. Grime, a fusion of UK grime’s raw energy and Ghana’s street rhythm.
Appearing together on The Big Convo, Novelist described their collaboration as “a spiritual bridge” between the UK and Ghana.
“These are my brothers from the motherland,” he said. “We have to link. I want to build a bridge we can walk back and forth on, because at the end of the day, a black man is a black man anywhere in the world.”
Novelist, known for his work in the UK grime scene, said his goal has always been to create music that empowers and inspires. “If I can leave people with something that makes them stronger through my music, that’s my duty,” he added.
Savage 4, made up of Bad Boy K, Big Dave, O-9 and OG-1 started as school friends making music for fun but quickly evolved into one of Ghana’s most promising rap groups. They describe G.H Grime as both Ghanaian and global.
“We’re the pioneers of G.H Grime,” said Bad Boy K. “It’s who we are and what we stand for.”
Their collaboration began when the group freestyled over Novelist’s beat FEEL THE HEAT. The chemistry was instant and led to plans for a joint project set for release in December 2025.
Both artistes also addressed misconceptions around grime. “Some people think grime isn’t lyrical, but it’s full of emotion and truth,” Novelist said. Savage 4 added that their sound reflects real stories not rebellion.
Beyond music, both acts see their collaboration as part of a larger mission to connect Africa and the diaspora. “West Africa’s time is now,” Novelist emphasized. “We’re not just participating we’re leading.”
With their shared vision, Novelist and Savage 4 are not just creating music they’re building a movement rooted in unity, culture and pride.
