Veteran gospel trio Daughters of Glorious Jesus has disclosed that they are revisiting some of their classic songs through a project dubbed Old Wells, saying the initiative is aimed at introducing their music to a new generation while preserving the spiritual message behind the songs.
Speaking on The Big Convo on the Culture Daily Morning Show on 3Music TV and Pluzz 89.9 FM, the trio said the project is inspired by the biblical account of Isaac reopening the wells dug by his father, Abraham.
“We are trying to re-dig the old wells. We want to tell the upcoming generation that there is still power and anointing in the old songs,” Cynthia Appiadu said.
The group said the project goes beyond re-recording old music. It includes collaborations with younger gospel artistes and the production of music videos for songs from their earlier albums that never received visual treatments.
According to Cynthia, many of their older songs were released at a time when only one or two tracks from an album would receive music videos, leaving many others without a visual presence on modern streaming platforms.
“When we started, you would release an album and only make videos for one or two songs. We want to go back and give those songs videos so the younger generation can stream and watch them on YouTube, Spotify and other digital platforms,” she said.
The group said the initiative began in 2019 with a collaboration featuring MOG before the Covid-19 pandemic. They have since worked with artistes including Sandra Boakye Duah and Empress Gifty, with more collaborations planned as the project continues.
Explaining why the songs have remained relevant over the years, the trio said their music is rooted in scripture and developed during prayer retreats under the guidance of their spiritual father.
“Our songs are based on the word of God.The songs minister to us before they minister to others.”
Alongside the Old Wells project, Daughters of Glorious Jesus revealed that they have five unreleased songs which they hope to release before the end of 2026.
The group is also preparing activities leading to its 40th anniversary in 2029, with plans to officially launch the celebrations next year.
