EOCO Detention Made Me Stronger, Not Weaker - Miracles Aboagye

An aide to the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has said his recent detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has only motivated him to run for the NPP National Communications Director position.

Miracles, in a statement released on Wednesday, July 15, after his release, thanked all NPP supporters for supporting him during his incarceration and insisted he is still ready to serve the party.

“I am out. I am unbroken. And I am more ready than ever. Thank you, patriots!”

Aboagye claims that he was picked up and taken into custody by EOCO only a day after he formally declared his intention to run for the NPP National Communications Director post.

He claimed that false information was disseminated regarding the circumstances surrounding his arrest, but he insisted that the truth would ultimately win out.

“Four days ago, just one day after I declared my intention to serve our great party as National Communications Director, I was picked up and detained by EOCO. A false narrative was put out about my arrest, but Ghanaians are not fools, and neither are the good people of the New Patriotic Party. The facts and the truth will prevail!!”

In response to reports that connected him to an alleged GH¢55 million case, Aboagye denied ever being questioned by EOCO regarding such an amount.

“FOR THE RECORDS: THERE WAS NO DISCUSSION OF ANY GHc55million cedis with me by EOCO. None!!!”

He also expressed gratitude towards NPP members and sympathizers who came in their numbers to demonstrate while he was in custody. He said their actions strengthened him the more.

“To every party faithful who hit the streets, who raised their voices, who refused to be silent, I saw you. I heard you. From my detention, word of your protests reached me, and it kept my spirit standing tall. You did not just defend Dennis Miracles Aboagye; you defended the principle that no voice can be intimidated into silence.”

Insisting that the detention did not intimidate him, Aboagye has vowed to go ahead with his campaign for the communications Director role of the party.

“Let me be clear: if the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly. I will lead New Patriotic Party’s Communications Directorate to command the narrative, and no cell, no false story, no intimidation will change that.”
